Research Manager, Maritime Technology
What you’ll be doing
- Responsible for RDI projects and its quality assurance within the area of Maritime Technology RDI, and thus responsible for RDI activities being conducted in accordance with established guidelines and agreements.
- Answer that the project management within the RDI activities follows Novia's internal routines and meets financial, operational, and legal requirements from financiers and clients.
- Collaborate with funders and other parties to create long-term and significant research resources.
- Responsible for the preparation of applications and agreements of the research group.
- Responsible for the finances and budget of the research group.
- Initiate and develop collaborations within Novia UAS to achieve cross-sectoral RDI activities.
- Responsible for the research group´s personnel and occupational safety.
- Participate in RDI projects according to your expertise and as other duties allow.
Ways to stand out from the crowd
- You have successfully applied for Horizon EU funding or equivalent competitive research funding.
- You have coordinated an international research project.
- You have an extensive network of researchers in the field as well as other stakeholders in the maritime domain.
What we’re looking for
- You have relevant doctoral degree in the fields of maritime studies, marine engineering, technology or human-technology interactions.
- You have diverse experience in maritime research, particularly in the development of new technologies of automation and digitalization.
- You are technology-oriented, yet you also have a strong understanding of the importance of human factors in the field and as users of technology.
- You have strong people skills and know how to create an encouraging and inspiring work environment.
- You have the ability to lead multiple research teams simultaneously while also managing administrative tasks.
- You have excellent English skills (written and spoken) and fluent proficiency in either Swedish or Finnish.

Employment
The employment will begin on January 19, 2026 or according to agreement.
Salary according to Collective agreement for universities of applied sciences and Novia´s internal directives. The position includes a probationary period of 6 months.
Location
Turku, Finland. We are also open to flexible solutions.
